Donald Trump’s victory in November came down to classic political forces, as the voters who put him over the top in the seven battleground states say the economy was the single most important reason they backed him over Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a Washington Post-Schar School poll.
Fully one-third of those swing-state deciders who ultimately voted for Trump cited the economy as the reason they voted for him in a post-election survey. That is twice as many as any of the other issues or attributes that influenced these voters.
